Becoming the Archetype

For once, I'm not actually talking about the band. I'm talking about the meaning of the phrase. An archetype is, according to the Random House Dictionary:

- the original pattern or model from which all things of the same kind are copied or on which they are based; a model or first form; prototype.

The point of becoming the archetype is to become the ideal... absolute perfection. This is my greatest motivation for holiness, other than to please God. I want to become the absolute ideal.

That's about all I've got to say, so I want to hear what everyone else has to say.

That's a really cool thought. But I must say, I never really thought of it that way. I mean, I've always wanted to be 'just what God wants me to be', but I've never really thought of it in the way you put it. hmmm, it really gets me thinking!

Am I theologically correct? Now you've got me thinking... lol.

well, I'm not sure. I wasn't originally implying that you were incorrect, however :) since perfection in us is impossible, I was a little confused. That said, setting your goals high is great...

hmmmmmm, I'm gonna be up late looking this up in my Bible =P I just love theological discussions =D

I need a pocket concordance. We've got an exhaustive concordance which is really hard to use... since it's like 3000 pages long and weighs like fifteen pounds...

Obviously, I did not mean that we are becoming the archetype. We cannot become Jesus. What I meant was that we should strive to be like Him. So, in a sense, we are becoming the archetype.
