Rediscovering...

...GM.

No, not the car company. GM not only stands for General Motors, but it also stands for General MIDI. Learn something new every day, huh?

Anywho, I've been rediscovering sound fonts (the basis of general midi). Most sound fonts sound terrible, but there are some that sound half-decent. =P Really, though, some do sound pretty good. I'm gonna try working with an SF2 (Sound Font 2) Sample-based synth. Who knows where it will lead?

And I've stopped using the composing program I've been using, MULAB. It kept crashing, which I believe was the result of ASIO4All, the ASIO driver I was using to run the audio.

Anywho (I love that word!), if that made any bit of sense to you, you're either a geek, a sound engineer, or Nathan.

Cheers!

Hahaha Wesley every post of yours always makes me laugh! And yes, i've been wanting to check out Soundfonts but haven't been able to figure it out. Yeah Mulab crashes for me too - have you tried MidiEdit? i think that's what it's called...

I understood that Wesley. I'm not a geek. I'm not a sound engineer. And I'm definitely not Nathan.

You just talk to me about that stuff too much.

Whoa! I forgot that I changed the way people comment, so I didn't notice how many comments I got... lol.

Adam - Yeah! There are some pretty good acoustic bass soundfonts out there. And the MicroKorg is amazing! But I'd prefer the Alesis Micron. People say it's a little better.

Emily - You'll be enlightened about this stuff some day. Just come over to my house or Nathan's and you'll learn it all. =P

Matt - I hate the Windows General MIDI... it sounds terrrrrrible.

Nathan - Yeah... I've heard of that, I'll check it out again. Oh, and you're officially labelled "The Producer" by me. I will refer to you as the producer when I'm talking about music. =P

Christianne - I didn't know you actually listened, lol.
